For a few of the members (including myself), baby yoga enabled us to break out of our comfort zones. One stay at home dad said that it was unlikely that he would have participated in a baby yoga class on his own without the support of our group. I completely agree!
Our VERY patient and knowledgeable instructor, Kami Evans, assisted in the festive Cinco De Mayo theme with some Mexican music and a bilingual partner pose version of "head, shoulder, knees, and toes." This Daddy & Me yoga class hit the climax when all dads and babies started doing the downward dog pose together (pictured above). The poses that we learned were fun & are even easy for us dads to replicate with our babies at home in front of a mirror. I would be interested in trying baby yoga again in the future!
In fact, one of our new members, told me about a parent & me yoga event with Ziggy "Tomorrow People" Marley at Pure Yoga on East 86th street for this Friday, May 8th. Experience Mommy (or Daddy) and Me Yoga from 4-4:30pm. Ziggy will perform an acoustic set from his newest release ""Family Time"" at 4:30. The cost is a steep $50, but sounds cool. For more information on this event, check out Pure Yoga.
