Shake Shack is Coming to Your Neigborhood

We ventured over to the American Museum of Natural History the other day to be shocked & awed by the dinosaur and the great big blue whale exhibits. What parent & child wouldn't be?

However, a trip over to the museum is never complete without a satisfying lunch afterwards. Sure, you can eat in the museum's spacious cafeteria...or you can head across the street to Shake Shack. I was pleasantly surprised to walk in around noon, and belly up directly to the counter - no line, no wait (shhhhh, don't tell anyone else about this). Most Shake Shack fans know the usual drill - waiting very patiently at their Madison Square Park oasis for their burgers, fries, and tasty shakes. Or, you were fortunate to score some tickets to a NY Mets Game at Citi Field & again, had to wait patiently for your grub. This underutilized UWS location is the cherry on top of an awesome museum experience!

It's not just me! I was talking with another dad on the street over the weekend who mentioned that he took his son to the museum recently. He said he would join me anytime at the Natural History Museum because he can grab Shake Shack afterwards. In fact, he said his wife is convinced, that the only reason he is always willing to take his son to the museum is so he can lunch at the Shack! I believe it.

Living on the Upper East Side of Manhattan means that I always have to travel for my Shake Shack burger. Not for long! Upper East Side is getting their own location later this year @ 152-158 East 86th Street (south side of street, mid-block between Lexington and 3rd Avenue). Other dads around the globe should prepare themselves for the Shack experience as well. According to the Shake Shack website, these other locations are set to open in 2010:
  • Theater District:Southwest Corner of 8th Avenue & 44th Street, base of the InterContinental
  • Upper East Side:152-158 East 86th Street (south side of street, mid-block between Lexington and 3rd Avenue)
  • Nolita:47 Prince Street (Northwest Corner of Mulberry & Prince Streets)
  • Miami Beach:11 11 Lincoln Road
  • The first Shake Shack location overseas will open in Kuwait City, Kuwait in 2010.
