"Whereas mom bloggers are struggling not to be put in a box, dad bloggers are fighting for a seat at the parenting table. They’re trying to bring respect to the institution of fatherhood. Being a dad, especially a stay-at-home dad, is being a minority in a field dominated by women."
In Dad Bloggers Deserve Respect, these bold words were spoken by Caleb Gardner in a recent post on the Edelman Digital blog site. More importantly, this article has been generating significant buzz in the dad-blogosphere. In fact, the article has already commanded 60 comments from readers. RebelDad pitched in with his perspective on dad-blogging and equity. So, how could I not share Caleb's insightful piece. He touches on relevant issues like being a daddy in a world of mommies (see Monday's post on the language used referring to fatherhood), respecting the role of the father, and by looking in some crystal ball (I hope) makes the prediction that this is the Year of the Daddy: "I think we’re going to hear more about dad bloggers in the coming year as agencies and the brands they represent realize the potential of the dad blogger community...My hope is that the same will happen with dads, and we’ll be treated like blogging equals instead of a passing trend."
As a frequent blogger, I can certainly attest to the fact that more and more dads have been hitting the blogosphere to share their trials and tribulations in fatherhood, share best practices, vent frustrations, and offer more resources for dads. As a result, more and more dads are reading blogs for humor, to connect, and get a sense of belonging as they navigate parenthood. If this does not become the "year of the daddy", it will certainly be an improvement year for dads in general.

Thanks for the response, and the kind words. Totally agree that this year is an improvement. Seeing it already!
