"Babies" Documentary Hits Theaters for Mother's Day Weekend

Well, I am still in the planning process for our mother's day weekend festivities. One option that I will not be participating in is heading to a movie theater to see the new documentary, Everybody Loves....BABIES, that follows the daily lives of four newborn babies from around the world. Sure, I am interested to see the film. However, the balmy spring weather is upon us, and an outdoors activity is more my style. I imagine it won't be long until this film hits dvd or cable-on-demand anyway.

According to the film's website, "Everybody loves... BABIES. This visually stunning new movie simultaneously follows four babies around the world - from first breath to first steps. From Mongolia to Namibia to San Francisco to Tokyo, BABIES joyfully captures on film the earliest stages of the journey of humanity that are at once unique and universal to us all. The children are, respectively, in order of on-screen introduction: Ponijao, who lives with her family near Opuwo, Namibia; Bayarjargal, who resides with his family in Mongolia, near Bayanchandmani; Mari, who lives with her family in Tokyo, Japan; and Hattie, who resides with her family in the United States, in San Francisco."

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the film's simplistic style. The critics reviews and interviews are all over the net. I enjoyed reading this particular interview with the film's director, Thomas Balmes, in New York Family Magazine. Read about how Balmes chose the babies for the film, how he interacted with the babies, and what he hopes viewers will take away in All About Babies by Brittany McNamara.

If you find yourself in the theater this weekend to see this intriguing documentary, please share your two cents...

  1. While you are thinking of setting up your own home theater room, the first think you will need to look at is home theater seating. If you go shopping, you would come to know the great diversity of different products and on the other hand different brands will confuse you.
