Yesterday, I was witness to a major scare on the playground! My son was pushing his baby stroller on our local playground. He was innocently rounding a corner when another child came at him full throttle on a bicycle (with training wheels). Slow motion. My son was a deer in headlights and was not able to move out of the way. I was close, but still too far away to move my son out of the way. "Bam!" My son was leveled by the handle bar of the bicycle and plowed backwards a few feet. Initially, I saw a nice welt on his face. Then, quickly realized the blood from his upper teeth. Two teeth were loosened as a result of the collision, but fortunately, not displaced. I am hopeful that these two baby teeth will tighten and re-attach over time, and will not fall out or have to be pulled. Long story short, I have learned that my son is a tough kid, but injury prone (you know this as well if you follow this blog). Therefore, I was in desperate need of some children's ibuprofen last night to soothe his pain and reduce the swelling.
To my chagrin, the timing of this injury occurred just as Johnson & Johnson's "McNeil Consumer Healthcare is implementing a voluntary recall of infant and children’s liquid products due to manufacturing deficiencies which may affect quality, purity or potency." Consequently, I found myself in CVS buying their generic children's ibuprofen medication to avoid the recalled meds.
On the heels of many recent baby/infant product recalls including strollers, high chairs, and car seats, we are faced with this latest recall - the products include certain liquid formulas of infant’s and children’s Tylenol®, Motrin®, Zyrtec®, Benadryl®, and other products. Consumers are told to stop using these products immediately because some could have too much of an active ingredient or there is a chance that some could include small particles and inactive ingredients that don’t meet testing requirements. "While the potential for serious medical events is remote, FDA advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue use." so sorry for Jake (and you)! thanks for posting the info. Just found out I have 5 bottles on the recall list. Filled out the form for a product refund, we'll see how long it takes.
