New Dad Boot Camps

We've gotten off to a great start with our New Dad Boot Camps. We've now held sessions in Tribeca, Park Slope, Ft. Greene, and on the Upper East Side, with expecting dads raving about the opportunity to learn from real dads and their babies. 

The boot camps have also gotten great media coverage, featured on the Today Show (see clip below) as well as mentions in New York Family Magazine, Time Out New York Kids, New York Metro Parents, The Tribeca Trib, A Child Grows in Brooklyn, DNAinfo, and a great piece on CBS 2 News. Many thanks also to our  great partners, Tribeca Parenting and the 92nd Street Y Parenting Center, and the JCC in Manhattan.

Most importantly, the first few sessions have convinced us that new and expecting dads appreciate the opportunity to connect with dads that have experienced the highs and lows of the first few months of life as a new parent.

NYC Dads Group is a community of dads that believe that fathers can be just as nurturing (or distant), capable (or inept), and confident (or scared) as mothers. We also know that when a dad is engaged through pregnancy, birth, and the first weeks of his child's lives, he sets the foundation for a life as an active and involved parenting partner.

With this in mind, we are very proud to partner with Tribeca Parenting, 92nd Street Y, JCC in Manhattan, and Boot Camp for New Dads to launch our NYC Dads Group New Dad Boot Camps, an opportunity for expectant and new dads to connect with veteran dads (and their babies) for a frank discussion on the experience of becoming a father. We’ll talk about the opportunities and rewards of personally caring for our children as dads demonstrate holding, burping, changing, swaddling, and comforting crying babies.

We’ll also discuss new parent-related issues, including:

• Developing a bond a with your new baby

• Being supportive of your baby’s mom

• Navigating work as a new parent

• Developing a parenting partnership

• Creating a baby-safe environment

• Managing relatives

This 3-hour workshop is facilitated by a trained member of the NYC Dads Group. Boot Camps will be held from 10AM to 1PM at the following locations:
